Hello! My name is Jalen Moore. I am a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans with a degree in Computer Science - Game Programming. My game development interests focus on AI integration and narrative design. Specifically, I'm passionate about creating systems and stories that adapt and evolve from player activity and am excited to share these projects with others.
I love games for the way that they allow for player creativity to solve challenges. When designing gameplay mechanics, I tend to gravitate towards systems that encourage players to use their imaginations and come up with their own unique solutions to problems. As a gameplay programmer, my goal is to build these experiences where experimentation is not only encouraged, but rewarded.
My primary focus in game development is the integration of machine learning algorithms in games to create adaptive systems. By feeding performance data into adaptive systems, a single game can offer multiple experiences that are tailored to all play styles. My game Escape Protocol, explores this idea through dynamic difficulty. By adjusting enemy AI based on player performance, the game maintains the right level of challenge, regardless of who is playing.
Narrative design is something that I am relatively new to but am actively learning about. When writing stories for my games, my main priority is preserving player agency, making sure the player is the one shaping the narrative through their actions. I aim to create stories with meaningful, lasting consequences that reflect the player's decisions and actions.
Currently, I'm seeking entry-level opportunities in the game development industry to further expand on these interests, grow as a programmer, and contribute to meaningful, innovative projects. I am eager to collaborate with teams that share my passion for immersive and innovative gaming experiences.
